Fornightly measures

Inspect the roof drainage and gutters of school buildings, as well as bin centers, walkways, and other structures equipped with roof drainage systems.

Apply sand granular insecticide to various areas prone to mosquito breeding, including gully traps, manhole cover handle depressions, lightning conductor pits, stop-cock pits, valve chambers, and sumps.

Additionally, ensure that water tanks are adequately covered and all drainage outlets are tightly sealed to prevent mosquito breeding.

School Vacations

During school vacations, administer sand granular insecticide to all toilet bowls, cisterns, and gully traps within school restrooms every two weeks to prevent mosquito breeding.

School Hostels Or Boarding Houses

Implement the aforementioned mosquito control measures in all school hostels or boarding houses.

Apply sand granular insecticide to gully traps, water cisterns, and toilet bowls in all hostel rooms every two weeks during periods when the rooms are unoccupied, such as in newly constructed hostels, vacant rooms, and during school vacations.

Vacant schools

In vacant schools or those slated for demolition, eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds by removing discarded articles and items left behind.

Seal toilet bowls, cisterns, and gully traps with plastic sheets to prevent mosquito access.

Drain excess water from water tanks.

Notify the Ministry of Education of potential breeding sites, and apply insecticides to all potential breeding habitats until they can be addressed permanently.

Desturction of mosquito breeding

Eliminate any identified mosquito breeding sites discovered during inspections and either remove or treat potential breeding habitats with insecticide.

Report all instances of breeding detected, along with observed potential breeding areas, to school management to facilitate the implementation of necessary interim or permanent measures.

Fogging

Fogging is done specifically in response to mosquito infestation problems or disease outbreaks. Liaise with locality and City Corporation whenever deemed necessary to ensure effective mosquito control measures.
